Law enforcement agencies have confirmed the identity of the woman who tragically lost her life in a rollover crash and high-speed police chase near Gorman on Friday. Anna Zauner, 26, was a mother, sister, daughter, and resident of Simi Valley. She passed away following an incident involving a stolen vehicle.
Investigators report that Zauner was driving a stolen 2024 Honda CRV and led police on a high-speed pursuit lasting over an hour before the crash. During the chase, which began at approximately 2 p.m. in the Sylmar neighborhood, she reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, weaving between lanes and into a construction zone. The pursuit ended when Zauner lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a guardrail and an overpass on the 5 Freeway near Gorman.
Details regarding how the car was stolen remain unclear. The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
